Piled reinforced raft foundation
BVMH Groundworks were approached by a self-build client who typically carried out his own groundworks. However, when his structural design specified CFA piles and a reinforced raft foundation, he recognised the complexity was beyond the scope of his own plant and experience. The Project
Our scope covered the complete delivery of a piled reinforced raft foundation system, including:
- Installation of CFA piles
- Full excavation and preparation for raft slab
- Reinforced raft foundation construction
- Civils and drainage installation
- Mains service connections within the highway
The programme was set at three weeks and delivered in full – giving the client peace of mind and confidence that the most critical stage of his build was executed professionally.
Challenges & Solutions
The challenge with this project was less about unforeseen site issues and more about the precision and coordination required between piling, reinforcement, and civils installation. Our in-house setting-out engineer ensured millimetre accuracy throughout, while our direct control of plant and resources allowed us to keep momentum without delays.
We also undertook the client’s mains connections in the highway, coordinating with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth approval and installation process. By keeping all services under one roof, we eliminated the typical delays of multiple contractors and ensured everything was completed on time.
